Classics riders will be eyeing another possible stage win with 15 sections of tricky cobblestones. For the GC riders it will be about keeping two wheels on the ground and avoiding punctures. Crashes, equipment failures and timidness can all put some serious time gaps in the overall GC standings. All riders will be hoping for dry weather and teams will do their best to protect their GC hopefuls throughout the day. Expect multiple breaks from the beginning and likely several solo attempts for glory going into the rest day. Get additional Data-Driven Coverage of the Tour on TrainingPeaks.
For this stage the peloton was modeled as a single entity using the typical pulling power exhibited by riders at the front of the main group. Try using the Time Analysis Tool to find sections on each course where different types of riders may have an advantage. For example a lighter rider with slightly less power will show gains on the climbs.
